How did he propose? My husband and I got engaged on October 22nd 2016. At the time my husband had planned the surprise proposal for 6 months. The surprise proposal took place in central park with my family and close friends present. On that specific day I was under the impression that we were meeting with friends for brunch. I wasn’t to thrilled about going due to the fact that we had an argument the night before, so thought of canceling the brunch. However, I ended up not canceling, because I had promised my good friend I would attend. Little did I know, I would be walking into something that changed my life forever. That morning came and again I wasn’t to thrilled, but I unwillingly rolled out of bed and made my way to Manhattan. The minute I arrived in Manhattan, my boyfriend (now husband)met me at my car so we could walk to the site together. As we started walking, he stated the venue was far, so instead of walking we should ride a horse and carriage (you could tell by the look on my face that he’s lost his mind). I told him that wasn’t necessary, we can simply catch a cab. He insisted, so I went along with it. The horse and carriage took us through central park, but before coming to a full stop, we got off the carriage. As we walked through the crowd, I started to notice familiar faces, saw rose petals on the ground and people holding sparklers along with letters that spelt out WILL YOU MARRY ME ,it then occurred to me what was going on.
When did you know he was the one? Before my husband and I started dating, we were good friends. We never thought our friendship would lead to something else. The church I grew up in put on a program called, Single and Saved. It was a christian forum, where christian saved singles along with those who are dating can get together to learn more about single hood, along with what to expect in a christian marriage. My church invited other youth ministries along with people we knew may be interested in the program, well I invited my future husband and his friends. Little did I know, our friends were plotting against us. There were many activities done that night, one of which was called, christian speeding dating. But the twist about this particular speed dating, was that the intention wasn’t solely to find someone to date, instead to potentially find a friend, mentor or maybe (the one). The activity was supposed to last about 25 minutes, however it was extended, so that my future husband and I could come together. During the activity questions were put together to increase engagement among the group. When we came togther my future husband asked one of the questions. The question was, “if you could ask God one thing, what would it be?” I said, “I would love for the lord to reveal to me who my husband is.” Before I knew it , our time was up. Later on that week for some reason the thought of my friend (future husband) stuck in my heart. I didn’t really understand why, being the fact that we were just friends. As a believer in christ, we seek answers from the lord through prayer and fasting. During the course of that week, I prayed and fasted. On the very last day of my prayer the lord did what he does best and revealed to me that he was the one! Little did I know, I was also on my husband’s heart during that same week. According to him he also committed it to prayer as well. On the last day my husband asked me out on a date and the rest was history.
What’s the sweetest thing he’s ever done? I can’t think of anything else apart from him asking me to be his wife.
What are you looking forward to at your wedding? Saying I do lol
Who’s planning your wedding? My husband and I planned our wedding, however UpperRoom events coordinated our wedding.
How did you pick your bridesmaids? My bridesmaids consisted good friends and family
But, we can’t forget about the groom and his men!
